Working In the Field

I am always amazed at the gleanings that are left for me.
There are always ways for my needs to be met.
I clean houses and I sell things on an Internet yard sale called e-bay.
I didn't know the weather would turn the roads icy and I wouldn't be able to go to work Friday.
However, my Lord did.
The Wednesday lady I clean for just happened to clean out a closet or two and had items for me to take home and do with , what ever.
It sure was a blessing to be able to put those things up for auction . May God bless her and me.

Sunday After Thanksgiving 2007

It really was a special day. I was able to visit with my grand-daughter as we went to church together. Pastor Richard spoke, finishing up his teaching on Galatians. All through the lessons I have found so much truth that applied to my life, right now. He has a way of inspiring me to follow the Spirit and I thank God for bringing him to pastor our church.
Here are the notes I took while he was teaching.
Sunday Nov.25,2007 Disclaimer : These are not exact quotes of my Pastors teaching. These are my notes and I paraphrased what he said to make it make sense to me.
When people ask him what religion he is he has a very good answer. He does not have a religion, he has a relationship with Jesus.
Gal. 6:1-18 He reads it all so we can be sure to have this in context.
vs.11 Goes back to a theme we found in the earlier part of the book. This is them, and this is us.
A new thought about Paul's reference to writing large . He could of meant that he was using large letters such as A B C , however he also could of meant this, " See I really care about you, look what a large letter I am taking the time to write to you to help you understand ." That sounds like Paul to me. One thing I have constantly asked the Lord, Please teach me how to speak the truth in love. Paul had this in his life. He loved these people. He was not trying to see how many churches he could claim he had evangelized and set them on the right road to heaven. He loved these people.
Paul was really concerned that these other guys, the Judiaizers were compelling these Galatians to sow to the flesh. It wasn't like , oh no, now you are going to have problems and people are going to wonder about me and what kind of church I started here. No, he cared about them and just wanted to set them straight. He did not want them to reap corruption, which is what will happen if you sow to the flesh.
These guys were Messianic Jews and even though they were telling the Galatians to follow the law, they themselves were not following the law. Jesus said the most important law was to love God and to love your neighbor as yourself.
Paul is letting the love of Christ pour through him.

Slingblade

I live in Arkansas and that may be why ever so many people told me this movie Slingblade had been filmed not far from my current hometown. After about the tenth person who said, "You ought to watch it sometime." I finally did, sort of . I did but with the remote ready to mute at any given time I felt like it.
I don't like filthy talk. I don't like filthy jokes. I don't like people to be degraded by words.
So I had to push mute a lot.
But watching that movie will forever be a blessing to me. I enjoy visual aids. I always "get it" better when there is a picture.
Of course this picture was what you do not want to happen.
There was just enough there for me to identify with. I seem to be able to grasp a picture others don't, the few I have shared my insights with .
Perhaps it is because I have viewed my world from a whole different point of view.
This requires my stating this view, so that you the reader at least have a better chance of understanding my insight. If you have not even watched the movie ,you may wish to not even go on reading this blog, because I can not adequately re-tell the whole story.
My view of this world : I have a fallen nature, inherited from Adam. I have an opportunity to receive a new nature, inherited from Jesus.
I have to choose daily to receive the new nature and deliberately choose not to follow the desires of the old nature. However, that old nature seems to be able to trick me, and somehow a repeated behaviour of sins manifest themselves.

Repeated behaviour are the key words here. If you have not ever noticed any repeated behaviour in your life you might as well not read this either. By repeated behaviour I am talking about behaviour that surely if you could have given the whole idea some forethought you would not have done it. Surely if you could learn anything from history, you could learn not to do this.

Now back to the movie.
The star of the movie surely had the markings of repeated behaviour.
He sat there in that institution with nothing to do but think about what had happened to him.
Did anyone encourage him or even suggest that he should or could forgive anyone of his persecutors ? I suppose not.
He had been imprisoned for so long he felt uncomfortable to be set free.
When given a choice, he would rather live in a shed. (Same place where he'd grown up.)
When to his understanding similar circumstances presented itself into his life , he responded the same way he had the time before.
I pointed out to one listener that the fact that he killed that abusive boyfriend was not going to help that young boy at all, I wasn't believed.
Well, that is because the listener was young his-self and he did not know yet that abused women always repeat the cycle . Just setting them free does not change their repeated behaviour that seems to always get them back with another abusive partner.
Maybe an abused women who has finally recognized her repeated behaviour and wants to change. It would take a huge miracle, the kind Jesus does, in order for that to happen.
She would have to be on guard all the time, every choice she made, that she was not choosing to go back and live in the shed. Just like she had done when she was growing up.

Wear Red on Fridays Show Support For Our Troops

First I checked this out on Urban Legends . Click to read full story. Sometimes false stories, even though they sound good and have a good purpose, can lead you to do something you wouldn't do otherwise.
It is true, actually something started in 2005, I am just now hearing about it and so I donned my most red tee shirt and went to work Friday.
It helped me to remember to pray for my nephew who is serving in Iraq. I also reflected and prayed several times for our troops through out the day.
Not once did anyone ask me, except my daughter, why am I wearing a red Christmas shirt today. So I wasn't able to pass along my information to anyone. My shirt had little snow men on it that said ,"Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow." I thought it was appropriate for a hot July day.

Learning to Live with Grace

I will always remember 2007 began with a learning experience. What I learned will no doubt be helpful to me as I go on about my normal life routines.

A homeschool gathering last week has given me much to think about. A young man with a most unique vision shared his experience of visiting another country.

He wore the traditional costume and told us of their life style. We who have never slept in a tent made of yak hide should be very grateful.

Home school co-op will be ending soon and Speech Club will be starting up again.

I feel like I have not achieved a lot so far this year due to the set back of illnesses . However, I will get caught up soon I hope. I am trying to let Brittany help me with the (click here to see) e-bay store as much as possible. I feel it can be a learning experience for her.

My grandson came to spend last weekend with me and I enjoyed his visit very much.
Life is good, because God is good. He is so good !

Having a Cold

No kidding, having a cold and having a cold has really been about all I have been doing for months now. I caught this virus cold thing , then my daughter came down with it, then I had it again. This time I was very careful to not re-give it to her and whew, for a short time she nor I had a cold. These are week to two week segments we are talking about here. So okay, here I go smack dab into a cold infested situation, maybe caused by own original cold ,because I did not realize how highly contagious it was at first, and re-caught the thing again. You guessed it, my daughter has caught it and now I am showing signs of catching it again. I am going to go out and buy dust masks in bulk and air purifier . Can this ever stop ?
You are so blessed that germs can not be passed on through the inter net.
The good thing is that only a few days of work has been missed due to this thing. I can plod on, with a dust mask on , by the grace of God. Actually I have had a much better time of it than my daughter and others that have caught it. I take a lot of herbs and vitamins. It does help , but it does not give me immunity to germs.

Walking Following Believing Expecting

On Tuesday nights I join with about 10 other women of faith . Our being together in one place just means support . It says, "We believe there is a God, and that He is good."
Sometimes it may be that we come in wanting to believe that there is a God , and that He is good.
Every time we leave , it is back, that we remember, yes, "He is God, and that He is good."
So gradually can the other gods come into a person's life that it is easy to be deceived sometimes by what life has put upon you. But it wasn't The God. It was that other thing that caught your attention and distracted you.
Once I start focusing on The God Who created the universe and all that is in it, I see , He is God and He is good.
I like belonging to Jesus. He takes care of me. He gives me strength to obey Him. He helps me follow Him. He is a good shepherd that has laid down His life for His sheep.
